NFL Football Picks Wild Card Weekend Full Schedule and Picks

The 2010-2011 season has ended and now is time for some NFL Football Picks Wild Card Weekend. There are some very intriguing matchups on Saturday with at least one interesting upset opportunity. It is the NFL however and anything can, and probably will happen.

NFC Wild Card matchups:

Saints (-10 ½) at Seahawks: Total – 44 ½ points: 4:30 p.m., Saturday (NBC)

This has “trap game” written all over it! The Seattle Seahawks played the New Orleans Saints tough in their first matchup of the season and this time the game is in Seattle, which is a huge advantage to the home team.

Seattle played a good game to qualify for the playoffs against the St. Louis Rams but to think that they will be able to win with just 16 points this week is a pipe dream. I see the Hawks hanging around for a while and eventually letting the Saints slip away in the end. Reggie Bush is going to be a factor on Saturday and despite the enormous spread, I think your money is safe with the 10 ½ points.

Packers at Eagles (-3): Total – 46 points: 4:30 p.m., Sunday (Fox)

This has potential to be the game of the weekend, if not the playoffs! Both quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Michael Vick should be healthy in this game – the thigh contusion that kept Vick out last week shouldn’t be an issue.

This game likely won’t be the “Michael Vick Show”. He has shown that he has had some trouble with quick, athletic defenses with a strong game plan. Clay Matthews and the Green Bay Packers defense are the type of disciplined squad that will give Vick fits.

I like the Green Bay defense to limit, not eliminate the Vick factor and the Packers offense to score more than their share of points against a diminishing Philadelphia Eagles defense on Sunday. Pick the upset and the Over in this one!

AFC Wild Card matchups:

Jets at Colts (-2 ½): Total – 44 ½ points: 8 p.m., Saturday (NBC)

The Indianapolis Colts enter Saturday’s game on quite a high. They have strung together four straight victories and have seemingly put an end to the struggles that threatened to derail their playoff plans. Indy is hot but the New York Jets are full of question marks.

Last season, the Jets defeated the Colts in the playoffs with a strong running game and a defense that simply stifled everyone. This season, the Jets are still a good running team although their production has really tailed off and their defense is still good. The difference is that New York’s running game has gotten worse as the season has worn on and the defense has allowed 27.5 points per game over the past month, including 38 to the Bears two weeks ago.

The Colts are running the ball again – Rhodes and Addai have resurrected a completely inept rushing attack. The Colts are actually starting to stop the run as well. Look for Mathis and Freeney to terrorize Mark Sanchez and for the Indy offense to run up the score. Peyton Manning’s 5-1 record against Rex Ryan defenses will be 6-1 after Saturday!

Ravens (-3) at Chiefs: Total – 40 ½ points: 1 p.m., Sunday (CBS)

The Baltimore Ravens just can’t seem to get a home playoff game can they? On Sunday, they travel to Kansas City Chiefs to take on the most unlikely of AFC playoff teams. The Chiefs and the Ravens are both coming off underwhelming season finale games and both need a better effort on Sunday in order to advance.

For the Ravens, they have on job – stop the league’s #1 running attack! If they can do that, it forces Matt Cassel to win the game with his arm. If the Chiefs have to throw, then Ed Reed will certainly be a factor. I like Baltimore’s 5th ranked run defense to slow Jamaal Charles and company just enough to slow Joe Flacco and Anquan Boldin do their thing down the stretch.
