The New York Yankees will attempt to win their second series in Beantown this season as they get set to conclude hostilities in the finale of their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox with the AL East showdown set to be staged Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park in Boston.

The Red Sox’s late game heroics fell short on Saturday night losing 4-3 snapping a three-game winning streak in the process. The Red Sox had a great chance to win the series with ace Chris Sale on the mound but the AL Cy Young frontrunner wasn’t at his best as he allowed all the runs along with two homeruns for his 5th loss of the year.

CC Sabathia was sharp in his return from the disabled list as he allowed 2 runs on just four hits in six innings en route to his third straight win against the Red Sox this season alone. With the win, the Yankees moved up within four games of the Red Sox in the AL East and still have a 3.5-game cushion over the Brewers in the AL Wild Card race.

RH Sonny Gray (7-7, 3.37 ERA) looks for back-to-back wins as he takes the mound for the Yankees while RH Rick Porcello (7-14, 4.49 ERA) attempts to keep winning streak alive as he takes his turn for the Red Sox.

Even though Gray has lost two of his last three starts, the 27-year old has been quite competent posting quality starts in each of his trips to the mound since he joined the Yankees on July 31. Gray finally won his first game for his new club last Tuesday in which he allowed two runs on five hits in six innings in a 5-4 win against the Mets. While with A’s, Gray beat the Red Sox back on May 18. The Tennessee native is 1-2 with a 5.16 ERA in 4-career starts against Boston.

Finally for Porcello, the Red Sox are putting points on the board and the 28-year old has reaped with three consecutive wins in as many starts. Porcello allowed three runs across eight hits in seven innings in a 10-4 win his last time out on the mound against St. Louis last Tuesday. Porcello lost all of his three starts against the Yankees this season. In all, last year’s Cy Young award winner is 7-8 with a 3.36 ERA in 17-career starts against the Yankees.

Mybookie Sportsbook has the Yankees favorites at 110-moneyline with the total sitting at 9½.
